In recognition of his outstanding professional contributions to and leadership in the field of statistical science, the American Statistical Association (ASA) has elected Professor Chris Nachtsheim a Fellow of the Association. Nachtsheim, the Frank A. Donaldson Chair in Operations Management, was presented with his award in August during the annual Joint Statistical Meetings in Miami Beach, Fla.
The designation of Fellow has been the ASA’s superlative honor for nearly a century. Candidates are evaluated on their contributions to the advancement of statistics, giving due weight to publications, the positions held by the candidates in the organizations in which they are employed, activities within the association, membership and accomplishments in other societies, and other professional activities.
Each year, no more than one-third of one percent of the total ASA membership is selected as Fellows.
